LOUIS ARMSTRONG AND HIS ALL STARS — Live in Vancouver 1951
Featuring Jack Teagarden and Earl Hines, this CD pre-dates the two Jack Teagarden/Earl Hines CDs from the Manchester Free Trade Hall in 1957 by six years and should really be considered the fore-runner to these two CDs (available on the Upbeat Jazz label – URCD258 and URCD273).
This live concert was recorded in Vancouver in January 1951 - it was a sell out show and the audience loved every second. This is one of the rarest of the all-star bands because it features drummer Cozy Cole who only played with the band for a couple of years. The full band line up is astonishing, so sit back and enjoy! 17 terrific tracks lasting 70 minutes,
Full band personnel are: Louis Armstrong trumpet/vocal Jack Teagarden trombone/vocal Barney Bigard clarinet Earl Hines piano Arvell Shaw string bass Cozy Cole drums Velma Middleton vocal
