These three CDs see Humph in fine form – an original Calligraph CD from 1985 featuring Kenny Davern, a second Calligraph LP, this time from 1983 featuring Wally Fawkes plus a 1985 recording with Claude Luter featuring the Bad Penny Blues rhythm section, Parker, Bray and Grieg.

In the notes for this CD the legendary Humph recalls, 'After doing a concert together in 1984, Kenny and I decided that we should record together ... it was left to me to assemble a band....Kenny here is fluent, hot and as original a slant on traditional clarinet style as you'll hear anywhere.'

Upbeat Jazz released this CD to celebrate Humph's 80th birthday in May 2001. The music was originally on the first LP that Calligraph, Humph's label, and we have added bonus tracks recorded 'live' at The Bulls Head in 1984 to make a 64 minute CD. We thought this would be a fitting tribute to this great jazz man.

Humphrey Lyttleton's trumpet and clarinet are joined on this recording by the clarinet and soprano sax of jazz legend Claude Lutter. Featuring the original 'Bad Penny Blues' rhythm section Johnny Parker, Jim Bray and Stan Grieg. Re-mastered by Dave Bennett with notes by Humphrey Lytteltonand Peter Vacher. Recorded at Epsom Playhouse on 21st May 1985 - this is a gem not to be missed.
