Oscar 'Bernie' Young was born in New Orleans but his big break came when he moved to Chicago where he made these rare Paramount and Okeh recordings in 1923 and 1926. These are complemented on this CD by three Okeh tracks, also from 1926.
These recordings feature the talents of Young's Creole Band, Ollie Powers, Viola Bartlette, Blyth's Sinful Five, Ozzie McPherson, Ida Cox, Ma Rainey and Arthur Sims and his Creole Orchestra. Full details inside.
